The Ron Jackson Trio

Versatile and sophisticated 7-string guitarist Ron Jackson has performed, recorded and taught music in over 30 countries. Highlights include shows and tours with artists such as Taj Mahal, Jimmy McGriff, Larry Coryell, Benny Golson, Oliver Lake, Russell Malone, Randy Weston, and Mulgrew Miller. Ron has been featured as a leader in jazz festivals all over the world, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Festivals, and Winter Jazzfest, NYC.

The latest recording project of the Ron Jackson Trio, "Standards and Other Songs", will be released in March 2019. Joined by rising stars Nathan Brown on upright bass and Darrell Green on drums, Ron's new album is an intriguing, multi-faceted set of new and soon-to-be jazz standards that will appeal to audiences of every age and taste. The trio mixes well-known classics like Cole’s Porter’s “From This Moment On,” and Irving Berlin’s “The Best Thing for You is Me,” with Jackson’s adventurous interpretations of Van Morrison’s “Moon Dance” and hip hop star Drake’s “Passion Fruit.”

About Jazz Standards and Other Songs, Jackson says: “What makes a jazz standard? For Standards and Other Songs, I wanted to make a record brimming with personal favorites, tunes I enjoy hearing, classic songs I feel have stood the test of time. Most are songs I’ve heard many times—either while driving, randomly streaming or crisscrossing radio stations, or just being out in the world, in the streets, the shops or at a show.  For me these songs have the power to transport you, to trigger memories and inspire happiness. A pleasure to make, Jazz Standards and Other Songs is heartfelt and genuine, an album I hope will spark feelings of joy and love.”
